Brief Description

APop.A is a Trojan which opens several Internet Explorer windows, among them advertising websites and a web page from which the emule can be downloaded, though it is not the official version.

If the user decides to install it, besides the program, the adware program detected as Navipromo is installed. This adware is designed to redirect the user to websites from which rogue antimalware programs are downloaded, among other programs.

APop.A does not spread automatically by its own means.

Effects

APop.A carries out the following actions:

  • It opens several Internet Explorer windows, among them advertising websites and a website from which the emule program can be downloaded, though it is not an official version:

  • If the user downloads the emule from this website, the program will be installed on the computer.
  • During the installation process, a message with the license agreement will be displayed:

  • If the user selects  Aceptar , an unofficial version of emule will be installed in the affected computer. Bsides this, the adware detected as Navipromo. This adware is designed to redirect the user to websites from which rogue antimalware programs can be downloaded, among others.
